ReadWest strives to provide its students
with basic literacy, English language skills and computer
skills needed to improve their employability, parenting and
life skills. We
provide a safe environment and hope to each student entering
our facility.
A student’s success is our success! To
become a ReadWest student, please stop by the office for a
brief interview. ReadWest staff is here to assist you.
ReadWest offers free one to one tutoring
to adults in the following areas:
Basic
Literacy Our volunteer tutors assist English
speaking adult learners to raise their reading and writing
levels in private, two hours sessions once a week.
The weekly tutoring sessions are arranged according the
student’s work and personal schedule.
English
as a Second Language Our volunteer tutors
provide literacy and language acquisition services to adults
for whom English is not a native language.
Weekly, two hour, one to one sessions help learners
acquire beginning English vocabulary and conversation as well
as basic reading and writing instruction.
Computer
Literacy Tutors instruct their adult learner in
basic computer use.
In modules developed by ReadWest, students learn how to
use the internet, set up an email account, send email with
attachments, apply for jobs and other introductory computer
uses. As society
relies more and more on technology, it becomes necessary for
everyone to become computer literate.
Students receive materials necessary to
accomplish their individual goals. Most importantly, each
student receives encouragement from ReadWest staff and their
tutor every step of the way.
