Frequently asked questions

Who can be in your program?
- Adults 18 years and older can register.

How much does it cost?
- There is no charge. Our program is free to our students.

How long does it take to get a tutor?
- It can take two months to match you with a tutor. We are continuously training new volunteers to help tutor. There are group classes you can attend while you wait for a tutor.

What happens once I'm matched?
- Once you are matched, you and your tutor will meet once a week for two hours in a public place, such as a library, church or here at ReadWest.

How do I sign up?
- Stop by our office Monday - Thursday between the hours of 9am - 3pm to register. We will fill out the forms for you. There will be a brief oral English evaluation for students needing English or a brief, no pressure at all reading and spelling evaluation for students needing reading help. These are necessary for your tutor to know where to start helping you. If at any time you feel uncomfortable, just say so and we will stop the evaluation.
